SMART Columbus

Columbus, Ohio, is emerging as a hub for cultural and mobility innovation, largely attributed to the efforts of alumni from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs. These individuals are playing a pivotal role as catalysts for change behind the SMART Columbus initiatives. SMART Columbus, born out of a partnership between city government and private enterprise, came into being after Columbus secured victory in the U.S. Department of Transportation's inaugural Smart City Challenge. This competition awarded Columbus $40 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation and an additional $10 million from Vulcan, Inc. The primary goal of these funds is to revolutionize urban mobility within the city.
